Plumper Metal/Punk has become something of a cliche nowadays. Far from the critical reach of either Metal or Punkhead to squeeze for unoriginality, they seem to draw a middle ground with the Pop/Alternative people.
Much like The Juliana Theory of today, vocals ranging from that of Jimmy Eat World, to Lit to Vic Fuentes (Before Today, Pierce The Veil), The Fold have an edgy poppy potion that formulates into an energetic sound. Though I would never mistake them for much more than an opening band on a solid headliner tour, they may be able to work through the cruves of the music sagging around them.
Lagging in originality, I advise to stay away for now. Should this Chicago quartet find a groove of their own, Tooth & Nail may have added another stud to their enormous minor league system. Stay in the meat of the disc for the slick production and extra effort.
