The Perishers haven't really gained much in the way of traction in North American since their last release, Let There Be Morning. Their follow-up, Victorious doesn't make amends for this either. It really is more of the same adult rock. Don't get me wrong, The Perishers are indeed great at what they do. They create some sweeping rock anthems including the huge album opener "Midnight Skies". The Swedish band decided to try out a new producer for Victorious. Per Sunding who is responsible for some of The Cardigans and Junior Senior albums took the production helm and proves that The Perishers sound can be polished even more. That is the only thing that is changed here. The sound is still that mature, melancholic sound that fans have grown accustomed to.
The same is the case with Victorious, the time you have to spend with the album the more rewarding it will become. Songs like the lovely and happy "Carefree" could become a staple in your car singing roster if you give it 3-5 listens. This song has single written all over it.
So if you like good songwriting and aren't after sheer volume then seriously give The Perishers a shot. In a perfect world this would be on every radio station. It's got the charisma to win over such a large audience if given the deserved exposure.
