Horizons marks the sophomore release for metalcore newcomers Parkway Drive. They come to North American by way of Byron Bay, Australia and seem to have made quite a name for them on our continent. Their debut album was picked up almost immediately upon Epitaph hearing it and Horizons is the first true Epitaph backed album.
Are they worth they hype? These guys know what they are doing. It's heavy and the breakdowns they use create the inspiring expected results. There may not bee too much in the way of groundbreaking sound but Parkway Drive stick to what they know and deliver the goods.
I love the manic guitar solos on tracks like 'Breaking Point', literally guitar at breakneck speed. It's fantastic. Winston McCall has a voice that is perfect for a band of this intensity. He is a pleasure to listen to, both his blood curdling screams as well as his slightly mellower side. You can almost understand him as opposed to other bands in the genre.
Horizons had the fortune of being produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Unearth, From Autumn To Ashes) once again, giving it that much more edge to it. So if you are indeed into the heavier side of things, check out Parkway Drive. They are good at what they do.

Saw these guys live in concert and they look nothing like what you would imagine them to look like. They came on stage before Killswitch Engage with brightly colored, form fitting shirts and skinny jeans you'd expect a scene kid to wear.
They definitely rocked their hearts out though.
