What originally had been a side-project for drummer Jari Rebelin (Rodeo Queen) and guitarist Andre Dietrich (Roerhedds) has turned into the monster duo we have before us now. Dyse (pronounced “Doozer”) crank out devil-may care noise and assorted silliness; you get the sense that these are having a blast being obnoxious and harming eardrums, and that has always been a winning combo in my book.
From the psych-folk of “Monstermann” to the bass-driven, slightly minutemen-y sludge of “Mann Aus Gold”, to the cruel thrash of “Wokkk” and “Doccode” in between, Dyse serve up madcap laughs and tasty slabs of noise.
Though the band has released a few Ep’s, this is their first record. They have made their bones by playing live throughout Europe, and must be a glorious mess on stage. This self-titled debut will have to suffice until they make their way West, but Dyse have provided enough tasty treats here to whet the appetite of those into a fun, but deliberate sonic assault.
