By the time you reach the final two tracks, both jams clocking in at over eleven minutes—“Black Magic Rituals & Perversions: Frisson des Vampires/Zora” and “Staurnine,” the former being an instrumental—you have been more than reminded of the behemoth that is Electric Wizard, one of the first and still one of the best stoner metal bands. There is nothing new on Witchcult Today nor does there need to be. You want gigantic, plodding riffs based on Sabbath’s first record, with stoopidly heavy bass and drums to back them up. Like the sound of crunching bones in the opening scenes of the first “Terminator,” Electric Wizard grind through “Sacred Rites of Drugula,” “Raptus,” “The Chosen Few,” “Torquemata 71” and others with lethal and single-minded purpose.
With Electric Wizard, the song remains the same, but their inspiration never fails them, and their sound never ceases to ring true. While surely sticking to a tried and true formula, they have proven yet again that it is a formula with enough epic space to keep it from getting old.

Probably the best summary of EW's sound ever written. It's that kind of writing that brings me back to your reviews, Mike. Love this album.
