Now maybe I am a little biased because I think Sonny Moore has one of the best voices and any band would be hard pressed to go from having him to not having him. But when From First To Last released their EP Aesthetic they knew exactly what they were doing. Aesthetic means something beautiful and honestly they titled this album appropriately. They did very well without Sonny on this album but At the same time, you could feel his absense.
There really is not one weak song on Aesthetic. While the songs are strong there is not one that even comes close to as good anything they wrote for their first album. Aesthetic has the same poetically dramatic lyrics you have come to expect from FFTL and honestly this album really would only work as an EP. If stretched out it would have been sub-par but, it is just the right length as is.
Sadly, even though Aesthetic is pretty much sick in everyway it does not even touch anything that was done on Deary Diary My Teen Angst has a Body Count. Aesthetic pretty much foreshadows the group's next album which is the pathetic, Heroine. What this album is missing is that special intangible they previously had. The passion of, Sonny Moore.
