Big Blue Hearts made hook-laden happy power pop with alt-country trappings; Here Come Those Dreams Again is a feel-good record that will please even if you balk at a sometimes too slick production that makes you wish for one abrasive, but well-placed, riff or high lonesome moan. Really this is textbook happy country: shimmering guitars, solid backbeat, harmonies that never fail to exult, all in support of lite-heartbreak and the healing power of memory. Any of the ten tracks here could be hits, especially “Dreamin of a Woman” and “Love or Something Like It,” both of which beautifully straddle the line between the sensual and the sentimental. “You Can’t Lose What You Never Had” adds some bite to the set, as even slickly produced tunes about regret cant help but hit closer to home than generic emotional subjects.“Here Come Those Dreams Again” is a solid good-natured release that will not make you forget Hank Williams, Uncle Tupelo, or even Blue Mountain, but will help you forget whatever mess you got yourself into on the day you listen to it.
