Lupe Fiasco can be defined in two words hip-hop. His sophmore effort "The Cool" is everything that hip-hop is missing. He is original and unique and he raps about much more than Money, Clothes, and Women. The first actual song "Go Go Gadget Flow" is a ridiculousy well put together gem. It is arguably the best song of the set and is different and yet mainstream all at the sametime. The entire album is amazing along with the single "Superstar" which is exactly what Lupe is. It is a shame he does not get as much play compared to Soldier Boy who stands for everything wrong with the genre. Lupe Fiasco has seemingly topped his first album. The songs i did not like were the one with Snoop Dogg and "Dumb It Down" in which he sounds like he is trying to be something other than what he is good at. The Cool is truely pretty damn cool. Lupe Fiasco alone is one of the biggest reasons that I still have respect for hip-hop in the least bit.

So this is by far still my favorite album of the year. As far as i'm concerned his beats are nice but it's the soul and passion put into the lyrics that make him a favorite of mine. It's something you don't see in hip-hop unless they're trying to get radio play. In what he says in his music, it's original. Dumb it Down, which might be wierd to listen to at first, is an amazing song because he's summing up where rap is now. Play what people want to hear not what you believe is right. This cd to me is a message and a wakeup call that should be payed attention to by alot of artists.
