Probably my favorite COB release. Great review, Zarathustra. While I might be quick to point out that "evolve" is a strong word to use in their case, they've certainly perfected their sound over the course of time. It gets no better than "Needled 24/7".

Where to start with Children Of Bodom, their diverse breed of metal has certainly given them a name in the metal community and again we see an evolution of their sound. As the overall sound of the album has taken more of a power metal feel in some respects. The album starts off with Needled 24/7, which starts off with some slayer style strumming, before a solo followed by a pleasantly melodic guitar bridge. This is a good representation of the album. Angry, fast, melodic metal.
Frontman Alexi Laiho continues his tradition of great guitar playing and excellent vocals. Laiho is certainly a talented and dedicated musician, writing most of the music in lyrics himself on top of his other duties, he may not be the best guitarist in the world but he's certainly one of the best musicians.
The album itself features some amazing songs, Chokehold (locked 'n' loaded) has an amazing keyboard solo towards the end. You're better off dead's chorus features some great sweeps and the title track has some great heavy riffing. I have no favourite track from this album because they all have something I like in one way or another. But regardless of that, it's still another great release from COB.
