So everyone is sitting tight with a rumor that Rancid are in the studio. A Rancid album is always something to get excited about. But what to do in the meantime? I would suggest seeking out the sophomore album from Rancid label-mates Time Again. Their first album showed this band had a lot of great punk chops but Darker Days proves that the first one just wasn't a fluke. Yes, Time Again has been tagged as a Rancid copycat but when our favorite punk band only releases an album every 5 years or so we need filler. Enter Time Again. If you can get past the obvious Rancid comparison they do have a lot to offer. Seriously. These guys are tight and have some of that fun, street style punk that gets you fired up. Singing along to "TV Static" and many others is so much fun. I've taken away half a star only because they don't bring a lot of originality. But the heart and soul that these LA punks have make up for it.
Darker Days isn't going to change punk music but does punk music need changed? If it is done well then punk music will never die. Time Again just got scribed on my "Must see live" list.
