I think Eric Bachman has won me over for favorite artist so far this decade. In so much as two albums, Eric and his Crooked Fingers crew manage to exhude a totally depressing facade while keeping up a slight ray of hope. Take for instance the opening track "The Rotting Strip" starts out with the lyrics "Blurry Eyes Half bent and I can't take you sober" and yet the song has a curious sounding percussion backing to draw you in further. On "Devil's Train", the chimey acoustic guitar does the same thing as Eric finishes the track of with "Resting peaceful as you sink / to drown under a sea of strangers". The acoustic guitars remain the focus point throughout Bring On The Snakes while eerie samples flow in and out of the background. Eric’s brilliant lyrics tie it all together with his references to being drunk. At first, on "Doctors Of Deliverance" you think Crooked Fingers have turned to a house band but then then revert to the acoustic guitar thing. Keep up the brilliant work Crooked Fingers. You keep it honest.
