If you are the least bit interested in today's Blues music you will have heard of the W.C. Handy Awards. This is like the Grammy's of Blues that every artist strives for. The Blues Foundation (www.blues.org) has sponsored this new series that is going to be on Music Blitz. This is a great way to get to know what the Handy nominees sound like. It's not only for seasoned blues fans but can be used as an introduction to the casual blues fan to get aquainted with some of today's hottest blues musicians. My current favorite blues artist, Guy Davis, is included here with his "Waiting on the cards to fall". Other artists included Johnnie Basset, Sean Costello, Anson Funderburgh, Taj Mahal (the brand new "Honey Bee" is included here for the first time), Son Seals, Calvin Jackson, the always consistent Shemekia Copeland, Corey Harris, and Big Jack Johnson to name a few. There really isn't much left to say except that if you are at all interested in Blues then you should run, not walk, to you nearest music store and order this disc. It's got some super hot blues on it.
