Cyclefly’s Crave is actually their sophomore album but it should have been their debut. They would have got more attention with Crave. This is a great album bordering on metal territory but it just doesn’t have enough kick to it to be considered metal. Especially with tracks like “Crave, which could easily be a Matthew Good Band song, Cyclefly show dynamic features. They can rock out hard or lay back and concentrate on the melody and lyrics. Once the song “Crave is over Cyclefly make the move right into another mellow track called “Drive. Don’t let the reviews in Kerrang make your idea of this band move towards the metal edge. They are anything but. For some reason they have also had an endorsement from Linkin Park. The pop-tinged songs are really refreshing and need to be heard in order to be appreciated. The Irish accent of lead singer Declan O’Shea adds to the charm of Cyclefly. There are dark spells on Crave too but for the most part, this album is up to commercial standards and if things go well Cyclefly should end up being played on the radio.
