You may hear mixed reviews about this Portland Oregon band and that is only because they seem to slide all sorts of different sounds and styles in on their albums. So, if you don't mind great variety on a single album then you will dig this one; otherwise you are going to hate it. The Dandy's are a band who find it hard to stick to a single sound which I think is great and leads to non-boredom. Although this collection is a little more cohesive than their last effort, 1997's Dandy Warhols Come Down. You get spacey psychedelic tracks like "Mohamed" in the vein of Luna and then you get Beck style ditties like "Country Leaver" and then all of a sudden it's completely Elephant Six style with "Solid" complete with it's jangley melodies; then before you know it they are doing their take on garage rock with "Horse Pills". My feelings are that vocalist/guitarist Courtney Taylor is a musical genuis and has a hard time focusing on any one genre. Bored with typical pop music, take the Warhols for a ride and hang on tight.
