I discovered this band last night and have listened to them for the past few hours over and over. She Wants Revenge is definitely a band with serious play back potential and their self-titled 2006 release is a great example of their sound. Listening to She Wants Revenge reminds me of tons of bands. The first it made me think of was Blaqk Audio without the vocal range of Davey Havok. The instrumentation and electronic sampling has more of a downbeat feel however. The vocals also remind me of The Killers and until someone mentioned it I hadn't thought of this, but Depeche Mode is also very similar to their sound.
The album doesn't have many songs that stand out in my mind. All in all their songs pretty much sound the same, but this hasn't posed a problem for me considering they are all great. She Wants Revenge is definitely an album that makes you want to dance rather than wanting to analyze the tracks musically. Their 2006 release also features a track that was used in the movie 23 titled "Tear You Apart."
She Wants Revenge provides a sound that tailors to an extremely wide audience. This truly is an album that anyone can get into and their catchy samples and instrumentation make it easy to enjoy on the first listen. It has quickly moved up the ladder on my favorite albums of all time and although you won't want to research it lyrically or musically, you'll still find yourself listening to them over and over again.

Happy to be a fan too. I listened to interpol and really didn't see the connection other than genre.

You'll notice, Digitalbath, you are the only "fan" of this shitty copycat band. lol

It's not just the vocals, though, because i don't mind monotony (sometimes). It's the whole premise of the band; it was just a real turn-off to me. To each his own, though!

I honestly feel like the monotonous vocals are really appropriate for this type of music and can completely understand someone not being able to get past them.
A friend of mine and I discussed She Wants Revenge in relation to Blaqk Audio noting that even Davy Havok toned down his vocal range for Blaqk Audio and both agreed that a vocal melody that is all over the place would just sound awkward within dance/electronic/pop music.

I don't know what the hell you guys are listening to, but this is honestly one of the worst albums i've heard in a long time. I had to listen to this whole thing straight through because my friend's a fan of the band and it was all we had at work to play, and I was deeply turned off by the monotonous vocals and ridiculously pretentious lyrics. These guys sound like The Killers without the poppy synthesizers; there is not much talent to this one, STAY AWAY.

Well pretty much, I don't know what horror pop is and it kind of sounds like a dumb descriptor for any band. I enjoy SWR and classifying something "horror pop" to me is a deterrent in any sense of the word. I wouldn't use a genre such as horror pop anyway for the same reasons I won't describe any music under the genre "power violence." I'd rather not have to explain my genre descriptions so that people aren't scared away from the album.
Regardless, I didn't even write a genre in the review and you know there isn't an option for "horror pop" anyway.

The best thing about this band is their album covers.
Seriously. The cover of their second album, whose name escapes me because there was absolutely no reason to remember anything about it other than the cover, is diametric to the first. I like it.And that's about all. Nothing else about them is worth the time of day.

They call Everytime I Die a Horror genre band in AP. This is because alot of their songs are written to a horror type theme kinda like movies. In this case if you read about Tear you aparts video and watch you will understand it is pretty much a 5 minute horror movie.

Bands that sell to everyone are like Boys Like Girls, Say Anything, The Killers. Listen to the lyrics of SWR's songs and it is pretty ridiculous to say they tailor to everone when the hook of their single is "I wanna fucking tear you apart" which if heard in context is talking about sex. In These Things it goes " She's in the bathroom she pleasures her self, says im a bad man she is locking me out." In the song written in blood it says "For now lets just kiss hard fuck the game" and also says "Your hair balled up in my fist you said dont get to attached."

Not sure what "Horrow Pop" is. Elaborate. Can you give me some examples of other Horrow Pop bands?

Watch the video for Tear you apart and then listen to their new album and listen The song These things and tell me you would not call them Horror Pop. Also the Killers comaparison is pretty far off. Really? the only similarity is the almost elctro beats that each band sometimes has. Also Interpol does alot more with actual guitar and drums while SWR uses alot more beats and not really as much of a straight out guitar sound.

Haven't heard interpol. If it is they're going to get in some trouble. They're single "Tear You Apart" has gotten a decent amount of publicity.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't She Wants Revenge a direct rip off of Interpol?

The universal sound pertains more to how many different bands this one sounds like. There are lots of "dark" bands out there within many different genres. I wouldn't call it horror pop either. There is nothing terrifying about She Wants Revenge.

I really do not agree with the intial review. Do not get me wrong I have dug the shit out of this band since this album came out. But honestly this does not sell to a wide audience at all. SWR makes a dark and twisted sound that I personally love. Their sound is pretty demented. Which if you have heard any of them is pretty easy to see. If you can classify this it would be horror-pop. But it is a damn good album.
