It's been a while since I've been passionate about a new self-released album but Malta's Scream Daisy has reinstated that passion. While the band does have some brit-pop tendencies, the pop is mostly their own.

The first single is an uptempo track called "Bees" that really pulls the listener in with a lot of great hooks. The second song, "Learn To Fight" really shows a big Placebo influence. It's somewhat mellower but still has impeccable melodies. On the surface "Surrogate City" seems a little boring but I dismissed it to early. The layers start to unfold upon repeated listens. "Headlights (In My Rearview Mirror)" gets raw and ugly on us but it is a nice change of pace bringing us into the second half of the album. Following the lead on this track is "Go Away", another very upbeat track. The charming pop returns with the soaring "10 Days", another prime single option. The only song I had a problem with was the closer "Airlifts". It was missing the hooks that make the rest of the album so memorable.

Overall, this self-titled album from Scream Daisy is a refreshing indie release and one you should not miss out on. They have put every ounce of effort into this album and you notice immediately with the production and package that this group cares about their profile and their artistic integrity. Kudos on the professional job.
