Bury Your Dead - Bury Your Dead
I was excited to finally get a metal band in my review package with Bury Your Dead. However, after having listened to it, I didn't find anything that I feel would turn heads. Yet another metal band does what they do well, but they just don't do anything new or ground breaking (see Parkway Drive, Across Five Aprils). The silver lining in these reviews of mine is always, "Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed listening to it--" I simply can't keep saying that though. This album tweaked my final nerve with metal bands of this substandard caliber.
Bury Your Dead reminds me of another album in its repetitiveness. Every Time I Die's Gutter Phenomenon shared this album's downfall in my mind. Every song sounds almost exactly the same. It is almost comical to go through the tracks and play the first couple seconds of songs in both albums considering they are all so similar. More specifically, the vocals on Bury Your Dead are dull in comparison to those of newer and/or more skilled metal bands out there today and the guitars do nothing but chug at the same already-been-done, beat-driven riffs.
As I stated previously, I would purchase this album if I wanted a good laugh, listening to the first few seconds of each song one after the other. Other than that, I'm sure any metal fan would appreciate this album as long as they weren't looking for something new, however, those hungry listeners looking for more than the bare necessities won't stick around for the last beat of this album. I only did because I had to.
