Death Cab for Cutie is creating quite a name for themselves. We Have The Facts is only their second album but they have already been on pretty much every cover of every major indie music magazine. You might call Death Cab For Cutie indie easy listening with their brand of timid deliver and clever songwriting. They borrow ideas from bands like Built To Spill and Modest Mouse but always steer clear of stealing. Somehow with their low-key sound they have still managed to keep an almost live feel to this album. Gibbard’s lyrics are very finely crafted as well (see “The Employment Pages� for an example). Their songs are very understated but it works, when you are in the mood. Yes, Death Cab for Cutie is not everyday all day music. You have to be in the mood for some quieter stuff and when you are, look out because Death Cab will get into cracks that you never even knew you had (Read: Good thing). This is an indie rock band at it’s finest.
