The Delgados have been very influential in Scottish underground scene with their own label, Chemikal Underground. They have helped pave the paths for band such as Mogwai, Arab Strap, Magoo, and Belle and Sebastian while often taking a back seat. The Great Eastern should prove to set them in their rightfull place in the Scottish music books. A beautifully flowing album with Alum Woodward and Emma Pollock switching vocal duties often sounding like fellow Scots, Belle and Sebastian. Although the Delgados tend to be a bit louder they still maintain a serene quality about themselves. The bands chemistry is never more aparent then on The Great Eastern.
