Saso has put out one of the most mellow and melancholy musically mishaps I've ever listened to with The Middle Ages. Upon first listen, the instrumental portion of the album sounded reminiscent of The Cure but they can in no way be compared to The Cure in terms of musical prowess and skill. The vocalist also sounds like a bad version of Chris Martin from Coldplay (not that there is a good version in my opinion).
Don't get me wrong. I don't believe that the music wasn't well put together or lacks any type of skill. The music is enjoyable, but it is about as enjoyable as any post-rock album can be with pop vocals. My main problem with it is simply that it starts and ends on the same exact note (refer to the alliterated sentence above). There is no development upon their sound from track to track and in my opinion, if you want to get the gist of the entire album, listen to one song. This album is truly mediocre and the only reason it is being awarded the extra .5 is simply because of the high hopes I've had for the album since I received it.
