Judging Mercy Killers’ 2006 release Bloodlove on any kind of individual merit is pointless given the overall nature of punk music. The genre revels in mediocrity. It loves to keep itself on one knee and damn near celebrates every shitty band that can barely play an instrument (see Sid Vicious). The whole scene is fucking retarded.
Mercy Killers add nothing to the negative credibility of the genre with their goth/punk approach and, in fact, only further the adolescent impression it projects. As with nearly all punk albums, Bloodlove does little to further the scene toward progressive integrity. The riffs are tired. The lyrics/vocals are tired. And if not for the occasional synthesizer, Mercy Killers would sound like every other shitty punk band out of L.A.
