The Dinner Is Ruined is sort of Canada's bad boys of rock 'n' roll. Having been around since the early 90's the band has been wreaking havoc on the nation ever since. In 1997 they had attained such a reputation that Sonic Unyon thought they would take a chance at signing the band. Seems as though it was one of the best things they did as Dinner Is Ruined has become a legendary live band across this great nation. Their experimental noise rock has become a little more structured with their new album, Ray Charles Kinda Party. Not afraid to try anything, the band takes on a couple of covers here by Kyp Harness and Ma Rainey. Flying around all over the place DIR takes on blues, noise, country and everything in between but they have fun doing it. They make alot of noice but demonstrate talent as they make it. At times, "Old Grey House", they actually take themselves seriously and try a ballad on for size. This is one band that takes a few listens to appreciate the direction they are coming from.
