Crazy Rain is the second of four EPs that Joseph Arthur is releasing this year. This one could almost get flagged as a full-length album clocking in at 30 minutes with 8 songs.
Mr. Arthur gets all gritty with the opening track, "Killer's Knife". It's kind of got Joseph's trademark style only all grunged up. Next up he roped in Greg Dulli to help him out with "Nothin 2 Hide". Nothing special but it does have a nice atmosphere to it. "I Wanna Get You Alone" is VERY repetitive but it is sort of catchy. "I Come Down" could have been a Nine Inch Nails out-take. It's noisy, electronic driven, and super grungy once again.
"Nobody Make It Home" could have easily been left off this EP. There was no merit in including this noisy experiment. But Joseph somewhat redeems himself with "Hunter", a nice quiet way to end this second EP installment. This is very different than his previous installment. It is much rougher and angrier. Definitely a different side of Joseph Arthur. If you don't like one, you might like the other.
