Dirty Power is a new band to come out of San Francisco. They formed in 2000 with the simple goal to rock hard and rock loud (how cliché). But with Jack Endino on board doing all the production for their debut self-titled album how could anything go wrong. He has had the pleasure of working with Soundgarden, Supersuckers, Nebula, Dwarves, L7 and many other hard rock acts. We get a huge sound from Dirty Power with some very clever and unique songs. The key man behind Dirty Power is former Pansy Division guitarist Patrick Goodwin. They took from their youthful idols like Black Sabbath and AC/DC and built up a sound that wouldn’t sound dated. They did a fine job because Dirty Power doesn’t sound dated at all. It’s a here and now rock sound that would be suited for a tailgate party as much as AC/DC or Metallica. Even though the songs are bone-crushingly heavy they still manage to be completely catchy. Case in point; listen to album closer “Gone and you have the general melody in your head for the rest of the day. This is not an easy feat when it comes to heavy music like this. I predict that Dirty Power will become a regular staple in hard rock and heavy metal fans eyes.
