Disengage - Obsessions Become Phobias
Disengage is thick and juicy like 2 inch thick BBQed steak dripping with sauce. They are not groundbreaking at all but they know how to play rock music. They take nods from Black Sabbath and Soundgarden (the track "Sunstarved" sounds as if it were an actual Soundgarden song) as well newer bands such as Fu Manchu and Monster Magnet. When the band gets on a groove they don't stop for nothing. The band has had 6 years of experience behind them which explains the reason why they are so tight. The guitars are tuned down and Jason Byers vocals are very appealing. The rumbles along while the drums trudgingly keep time. This is powerful rock music at it's best. Don't think that this is just another "stoner rock band" because Disengage seem to have something special going on.
