I fell in love with Dismemberment Plan when they released Emergency & I but I had heard that they completely changed their focus with Change. Every review that I read was saying that this was a completely new band. So I wasn't in a hurry to get Change. Now that I have it in my hot little hands I am kicking myself for not believing in this amazingly creative band. Hopefully I haven't lost you yet because Change is a very important album in the post-punk (or whatever the hell you call it) world right now. Some may just drop this album in haste thinking that Dismemberment Plan have turned to an emo type of sound but upon a mature investigation one can easily see that they have found some killer pop and aren't afraid to put in into their post-punk sound. Don't believe me then at least check out "Following Through", which is one of the best tracks I have heard in the last 5 years (read: very impressive). It really is hard to make comparisons but Spoon is the only band that really pops into my mind. That doesn't even do Change justice. Dismemberment Plan is a work in progress that really moves and adapts as it grows up. I won't make the same mistake when their next album comes out.
