I’m sure you’re thinking “another rock band from Sweden? Division of Laura Lee are from Sweden but before your run away screaming I would suggest you give Laura a chance. There are more dynamics here at work than a band like The (International) Noise Conspiracy and the straight ahead rock of the Hives. The bands lyrics are a little more personal but maintain the standard political views that we have come to expect from Swedes. One reason for the dynamics is the use of two singers. They aren’t afraid to drop it down a bit and lower the volume. See “I walk on broken glass for example. The band plays some very infectious riffs like the droning of “Wild and Crazy. How many people are going to think their phone is acting up when they hear the dialing on “BlackCity?Time will tell but Division of Laura Lee will be one of the more intriguing bands to hit North American shores from Sweden. Not that there are any lack of those. Watch for a tour later this year. I am going out on a limb here but I think it would be pretty impressive.
