Late as ever, here I come with a review long over due.  Wreaking in Hip Hop, Jazz and Blues overtones is The Otherside Los Angeles. The edition I received was in two parts, one the CD, the other a DVD.  The CD which is presented by another indie Hip Hop King Madlib.  The CD not only visits the pseudo and slick sounds of intellectual Hip Hop of Los Angeles by sound, but by video as well.  Walking alongside interviewee and guru Peanut Butter Wolf, you take a nice couch stroll throughout the various industries of L.A.  From shopping to hotels to sights and of course sounds.  Speaking of the sounds, in addition to the imperative tips of living in LA in the booklet, CD sits somewhere between over-experimental and perfect for houseparty background music.

Random mixes, loops and vocal samples trickled over a spectrum of music styles.  One of my favorite songs is track eight by Outlaw Blues Band "Deep Gully", more like a remix of a remix, this song features samples from what most would remember as Cypress Hill cuts.  On another track look for reggae beats n tone, presented by Prince Jazzbo.   Of course Madlib is featured here as well on track nine, "Infinity" which has no real shocks other than the steep record break. With this edition being CD/DVD Im not sure what the retail price may be, but I would venture to pay up to $15.00 for this ultra experimental pair of discs.

I recently a heard a copy of Madlib, The Other Side of Los Angeles. Yo Son, the diversity behind the production on the tracks is sick as hell! Punk, Hip Hop, Dub and Classic Breaks! Man, what else didnt cat throw in? DJ Approved type stuff. Took me back to the times when you could sneak into the back of the clubs without the cops fucking with ya!!! Mad props on track six, talking about nuclear war. Im (Dj Aquanot) thinking about remixing this album. Its ill to the point of drinking chunky milk out the fridge!!! Before I end this, I wanna spotlight track ten&.Old roots and Reggae are nice towards the ending into a cosmic rolla costa! Track eleven is simply baby making music. Very Bootsy Collins, Superfly and Curtis Mayfield feeling. The 70s were very effective for this album.
