The lead singer and songwriter Canada's favorite band, The Tragically Hip, has made the move into the solo field. Gord Downie has not only recorded a solo album but has also released a book of poetry both entitled Coke Machine Glow. The album is a bit of a departure from what Hip fans might expect. He has gone the loungy route and focused more as a singer songwriter. There is quite a variety of music on Coke Machine Glow but the one thing Gordon keeps is a personal outlook on his music. The songs all seem close to Downie's heart and have deep subject matter (albeit sometimes very cryptic). Just because you are a fan of the Hip does not necessarily mean that you will enjoy this album. There are no real rocking tracks here. Coke Machine Glow is an album for the more eclectic Tragically Hip fan.
