I'm having a hard time finding a proper catagorization of music to place Twisterbait within. Their music is a deft blend of electronica and ballsly pop-rock, a melding of Muse, Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails but run through a dance-floor filter and above all the name of their game is "catchiness".
I Spy is a somewhat old offering, having been released 4 years ago. What's more, the band has seemingly released a full-length since. Of course it's easy to see why they would on the strength of this EP; the 6 songs are all short, funky bursts of grooves, ambiguous vocals and catchy pop guitar hooks. There are moments when their techno leanings border on industrial, but those are few and far between.
Usually, this isn't my style of music. But I can make an exception here; Twisterbait put together honest, enjoyable electric-pop without taking themselves too seriously in the process. There's plenty humor and sarcasm to be found. Check the groovy goofball number "Get on our Bus" for examples. I wouldn't mind seeing how their LP fares on the strength of I Spy.
