For those familiar with Seattle's Daphne Loves Derby you will recognize the voice behind this solo project of Kenny Choi. Wolftron takes on an even more personal side of Kenny and comes out sounding lush and delicate. Flesh & Fears was recorded in Kenny's apartment on his Pro-Tools set-up, resulting in this idiosyncratic affair. The album starts out with a good indicator of what to expect for the rest of the album, "Crystal Skulls". Then on "Ms. Luna Grim" Wolftron heads into a more upbeat, although no less personal, territory. Being a home recording, it's amazing to have as lush arrangements as Kenny manages on this song. By the time you get to "Blueberry Waves" I found myself feeling slightly bored. Wolftron is capable of some wonderfully lush arrangements but when you put these tracks one after each other they tend to feel like a run-on song. That's not to say the songs aren't good. They are good. There just isn't the diversity in Flesh & Fears that you would have desired. I really can't pull out favorite songs because they are all decent. But if I had to it might be "Ms. Luna Grim" or "Beautybird".

This is Kenny's first solo project so watch for it to blossom. Flesh & Fears is a good album to check out in passing and I would bet that if you spent time with it you could find a lot more in it.

I agree with the review. This album is good, the vocals are solid, and the use of piano is vital. It does tend to run together, but still a good album.
