The Faceless. A brute force of complete and utter chaos that rips and growls its way through nine displays of shear talent. Akeldama is one of those rare albums that even after many listens, it still sounds 100% flawless. Technicality is a huge factor in the ever growing genre of Brutal Death Metal, but is rarely done right. Odd time signatures, off tempo rythm sections and very very fast blast beats make it difficult at times to understand what is going on, but that seems to not be the case with The Faceless. I don't understand how they could possibly pull it off, hell I don't think I would want to know. We are talking 64th note double bass on top of gravity blast beats courtesy of Mr. Marco Pitruzella of Vornagar fame.
Haunting keyboards, creepy ass gutteral growls, and an attitude to top any. This will grind your bones to dust and and make you smile through the pain. In all seriousness, this album is definately not for someone who doesn't understand heavy music. It may not be too much new, or revolutionary by any sorts. It doesn't sport girl pants or a devils hook. And it definatley does not include a broken heart. But it does have musicianship in its purest form. No frills and no bullshit, this is what its all about.

I'll check it out for the first time as I write back. First its fairly obvious to you I've never been a fan of this thread of metal/core. However, good writing and technique is recognizable in any form. The first on their player Pestilence is a rip roaring trip through atleast thirty years of metal. Fantastic sound, my rating is 8.5 rounded up. Welcome back to the fold my friend. Need a care package?
