Flimmaker - An Invitation To An Accident
This is a little surprising. A band to come out of Estevan, Saskatchewan called Filmmaker has the same styles and merit than any band on Drive-Thru records. They use a template set down by the likes of Samiam and build on it better than 75% of the bands going right now. They use a bit of the emo touch but maintain an awesome driving rock sound. Filmmaker released a 6 song EP and has received over 55,000 downloads on the mp3.com website, which was enough to chart on the site. Calgary’s Farway Records subsequently signed the band and are now issuing the impressive An Invitation To An Accident. Andrew Chevrier’s vocals are full of dexterity and emotion and the band knows exactly what to do to make those vocals stand. Songs are dynamic, filled with soft/hard mixtures but all with a sunny outlook. Filmmaker have released a very impressive album and if they get enough press, chances are that next album will be on the likes of Drive Thru or Revelation.
