The Scandinavian invasion continues. The Flaming Sideburns are the latest import to garner much attention and the love of their North American contemporaries and their fellow country-men as well. The Hives, The Soundtrack of our Lives, and the Hellacopters have all placed The Flaming Sideburns at the forefront of the current garage-rock revolution. That’s a pretty hefty compliment coming from the self gratifying Hives. While this garage rock revolution really shows no sign of letting up, it leaves plenty of room for new bands to enter this arena. This is where the Flaming Sideburns enter. They aren’t so heavy that people would be turned off. They have a melodic sense that enters pretty much every song, making each song memorable. They take the best elements from the usual influences in the genre like the Stooges, MC5, and even throw a little Kiss sensibilities into such song as “Up In Flames. Anyone interested in any of the bands that I have name dropped should definitely check out the Flaming Sideburns. Rock on!
