As soon as I heard the opening track from U.S. Christmas' new album, Eat The Low Dogs, I thought I was in for a fantastic ride. They play a psychedelic stoner rock of sorts. One that takes you into a different plane of consciousness if you let it. The second track, "The Scalphunters" builds on the first and creates even more of a wall of sound like only a Neurot record could. Then they take on a different persona on "Say Sister", slowing things down to a bit of a dirge-like feel. This slower paced style continues on "Silent Tongue", this one sounding like a bastard Country song. It drags on for 10 minutes. The build up on "The Light And Trails" was awesome, but it lacked a climax. I thought the same with "Uktena", decent moody track but it never really went anywhere.
By the time I got half-way through Eat The Low Dogs, though, I found myself getting a tad bored. I love the thickness of U.S. Christmas' music and even the vocal delivery but it tends to tire because there isn't any change in the pace, or hardly a change. There are some that may think of this as a bonus but for me, I'll just take the music from Eat The Low Dogs a couple tracks at a time. This makes for a delectable delight, otherwise, there's just too much mayo.

i respectfully disagree. there is more meat than mayo on this one. these boys are the real deal. the record is full of subtlety and lyric poetry. it's deep. listen again. maybe in the dark. like many of the best records, it's not going to get you in the gut on the first listen.
