It's amazing how continental taste can be the difference in between going gold and go back to the drawing board. This being my first experience at listening to the UK's Archive, I'll hesitate to label these guys a European only success.
Rather I think I'll remove what's fantastic about this release Lights. Though they have a very basic premise of Electronica, there are a lot of subtle variations. The contrast between the first two tracks Sane and Sit Back Down are evident enough. Sane is an upbeat groove with a solid drum 'n' bass beat. Sit Back Down though still upbeat revolves around a more playful mincing of instrumentation. It appeals to the Kieskagato listener in me, while annoying the Robbie Williams hater.
Oftenly you'll hear other influences such as Radiohead, Massive Attack, and Kraftwerk. The committee in my head has not yet decided if these guys need a little tweaking or just are not my cup of tea. Let's see what else they have to contrast this release.
