When Matt Murphy's Superfriendz broke up in 1997 he knew right away who he wanted to start a band with; his childhood buddy Henri Sangalang. I don't think even they realized what sort of splash they would make. The album was originally released themselves with help financially from the Canadian Factor grant (helps out some up and coming artists). After it was out and the started touring the folks at Spin Art caught wind of the Flashing Lights and tracked them down to sign them. U.S. release followed in the spring of 2000. The music on Where the change is has numerous 60's influences like the Kinks and the Beatles. Matt has mastered the art of the pop song and can get even the most fickle listener to admit their admiration for the band.
