For Stars have won their way into my heart. After 1999’s Windows for Stars I really thought that For Stars were spent and that main star, Carlos Foster, would have run out of creativity. Not so. On We Are All Beautiful People’s opening track, Carlos starts out with almost a whisper of a track (“Wires) only to end up with one of the most powerful For Stars songs ever. If you were into the last album as much as myself, expect a little more volume on here. It’s a good thing though. Carlos Foster works his lonely, almost Mercury Rev or Flaming Lips style voice into these volume enhanced songs without much effort. He is still lonely and still sounds a bit on the depressing side but the songwriting is getting better all the time. Take for instance the fragile “Beautifully which sounds so forlorn that is about to fall apart at any second. Obviously proving that Carlos is a never-ending source of great material. These Stars most definitely outshine the last. This band is on a roll so watch for them to make a big splash in the indie world.
