LifeForce seems to get a better pair of ears in assembly as they grow. Another artist has stimulated my core/metal feelings. The Psyke Project has an emotional branding of hardcore and poppy metal that kneads itself into unique styles.

Strong kicking rhythms, no way to slice that. An entertaining set of pipes, even when the scream and shout gets out of hand, the guitars become a concept created by the sound. I hate to say it cause it can be so negative (though not in this case), but these guys fit the bill of a late radio airplay.

I mean, how does anyone avoid a Neurosis mention here, but these guys have so much more than a bunch of name drops. Physical Romance has a energy wrinkling force, but display control at the same time. Don't scrunch up yet, about a minute into the song comes an Alt-Pop softening, then an immediate explosion that fronts all sides of progressive metal work. Pepper in lyricism that is tasteful even for those who are mainstream vocal preferred, this song ends in a terrific blend of simplistic- long strummed guitar melodies, and outbreaks of distortion depth.

More of a quick rhythmed track is the following "Dedication". Quickly, but subdued under distorted pedals and drowned out high pitch. I'm digging this sh*t, and most of you should as well.

I feel ya on LifForce, though they seem to be getting better and better and digging with each year. Maybe a label to out for in 2009.

Heh, I had this one sitting in my review pile for awhile. I dig it, maybe not as much as you but it's certainly a creative and enjoyable disc. Not too fond with Lifeforce as a label, but they've got a few diamonds in the rough.
