Remember Unwritten Law? They were on the brink of punk stardom in the late 90s with their Interscope contract but they didn't quite make it into the same category as many of their peers. They has semi hits with "Cailin" and "Seein' Red" but that's about it.
But the band continues to trudge forward and what better way to celebrate a band than with a live CD/DVD package (note sarcasm). I'm not a huge fan of live discs. I feel that there is a reason that bands spends so much time, money and energy trying to get the sound right in the studio. So some bands think that their fans want a live, off the floor recording. I'm sure some do but I'd rather have the professional product.
That aside, Live and Lawless really isn't terrible. On a scale of 1-10 for live recording quality I'd give it a 6 which is pretty decent. All the songs you'd expect are here, even some you might not expect. If you are reading this, chances are you are an Unwritten Law fan and chances are if you are an Unwritten Law fan you would appreciate the live versions here as well as watching them perform them at the Key Club on Sunset Strip. Otherwise, you might be better off checking out their self-titled Interscope release. It's the best studio album from the California punk/pop outfit.
Oh, and what's with the cheesy cover?
