"This War Is Ours" is my choice for best album of 2008. Everything from the harmonic vocals to the breakneck speed of the drums is spot on and is captured in the most unbelievable way that could ever be possibly imagined. I'll admit, this is my first exposure to Escape The Fate. But I'm grateful that this was my first taste, because after listening to this album for 2 straight days im hungry for more.

"This War Is Ours (The Guillotine Part 2)" is THE perfect song for this album. It's catchy, it's hardcore, and it shows everything that Escape The Fate is capable of. "On To The Next One" has a perfect riff that is accompanied by pounding drums and flawless vocals. The vocal solo is definitely something to be recognized as it throws a great twist at the perfect time to allow you to recuperate before you start headbanging for the final minute of the song. "Ashley" is perhaps the best modern love song that I have ever heard. It's so romantic, yet it fits so well into the album that it's hard to not to smile and dance to it's catchy drum and guitar combo. Another vocal solo accompanied by drums flows extremely well with the rest of the song. "You Are So Beautiful" is a faster song, but it definitely carries that same intensity felt in other songs. The backing vocals are something from out of this world. Adding the screaming was the perfect touch, but you don't fully recognize it until you fully submerse yourself into the song.

"This War Is Ours" is definitely an emotional album. Every note just reeks of passion that has yet to be matched by any other band of late. The lyrics are those of a mad scientist, by that I mean that they perfectly match the feeling of every song. Another positive I would like to point out is that the love songs on this album are a prime example of how you display your feelings without risking your sound. If you are looking to explore your musical tastes, no matter what your comfort zone is, you have to listen to this album. No, you have to listen to this album period. I am absolutely certain that once you listen to "This War Is Ours", you will be hooked on the taste of Escape The Fate.
