Here is a true hardcore EP. Paint It Black kind of redefined hardcore punk for a new generation and now bands like Stay Sharp are grasping on and shooting for the moon. This EP, ingeniously entitled Four Songs is just too damn short. The 4 songs are over in 6 minutes and you are left wondering what just happened. The band is five-piece hailing from Philadelphia and Four Songs is their first release. They are capable of melding hardcore with some more melodic sounds in "Sign It", one I hope the band builds upon for a future release. But they like to hold true to heavy hardcore as well on the opening "Winning Is Everything". I found myself wondering if there was many more songs if I might get bored but for an EP this puts Stay Sharp on my radar for future releases from the band.
