I saw that we did a review on these guys for their previous release. Though I have heard of them, this is my first experience listening to them. Rather than have my review tainted, I'll just give this a whirl by throwing the disc in and see where the chips fall.
Upbeat, and tasteful instrumentation, Never Again which includes the traditional guitar, drums and bass pillow to the sound of piano. Then the vocals lead with an almost Tears For Fears sound. The vocals, though not really to my liking, at times have a range that reminds me of Splender a bit. For a more solem feel, press track three Nobody Understands. After a very slow start, this song eventually progresses towards an abrnomal ballad with an emotional ending.
Mostly tracks of deepened lyricism, and enjoyable adult contemporary lounge rock, The Midway State have a solid sound that Coldplay fans may be missing out on.
