The Go-Betweens are back with their sophomore comeback album. Does that term even exist? Well, if you are unfamiliar with the Go-Betweens, let me get you up to speed. Robert Forster and Grant McLennan started a band down under, Brisbane Australia to be precise; they released a bunch of albums in the 1980’s that gained a huge following in the college ranks. In 2000 Robert and Grant decided to try this whole band thing again and teamed up with Quasi band members to release the much lauded Friends of Rachel Worth. Now three years later The Go-Betweens are back for Round 2 of Round 2. Bright Yellow, Bright Orange is the flavor to which Robert and Grant are at in their musical lives. It is a beautiful album filled with glorious harmonies and superb mellow songs. It really picks up some of the pieces left from Rachel Worth. The songs just seem to have a little more consistency. They are sunnier and seem like there was more thought put into them. Bright Yellow, Bright Orange is a very solid and incredible album proving that Robert and Grant have done the right thing in resurrecting the Go-Betweens.
