Gomez - In Our Gun
It’s almost as if Gomez just gets lost because they are so damn original. In Our Gun is Gomez’s third proper album (they released a b-sides album last year) and by far their best. They took on not only their homeland of England but the world with Bring It On, winning all sorts of accolades but then somehow were forgotten about. In Our Gun shows that Gomez has grown tremendously and aren’t afraid to play around with new ideas. There are samples and beats abound on this album but they haven’t forgotten the folky roots that they came from. The boys in Gomez are very adventurous and In Our Gun proves that their experiments are just whimsical fantasies but have a purpose and can deliver in a brilliant manner. They have the traditional sense of labelmate Ben Harper but incorporate the likes of the Beta Band in to make an almost futuristic folk sound. Any way you say it, Gomez is light years ahead of other British bands still trying to rediscover the Beatles.
