How does a band follow up a brilliant EP like Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci’s Blue Trees? That’s easy for a band of this caliber. They just carry on like normal and proceed to blow minds once again. Yes, Summer in My Heart really is mind-blowing. Not in the sense of knocking you over but the quality of musicianship that is portrayed on the album. As with most of Gorky’s work it does take a couple listens to fully appreciate. It is a delicate and romantic affair that seems to go on forever. Why don’t you take a “Honeymoon With You� after you have found some “Easy Love�? There really isn’t a weak song on the album, which is to be expected from this Welsh pop band. You might call Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci a psychedelic folk rock but just be happy with calling this brilliant pop music. It is gentle and sweet. The arrangements are lush and creative. This is an album that marks a career high for an already impressive band.
