"They're another one of those post-hardcore bands."

 "What the hell does that even mean?"

"What, post-hardcore?"

"Yeah, what does post-hardcore sound like?"

"Like this, like Humanfly or Isis or Mouth of the Architect.  You know, bands like that."

"Ok, but if I were to tell someone who's never heard those bands that Humanfly is a bad ass post-hardcore band they'd have no idea what that means.  That definition is nothing without reference.  How does something sound post-hardcore?"

"Fuck man, I don't know, that's just what that style of metal is called."

"Well it's fucking dumb.  It needs a better name than that."

"It's too new of a sound that's all."

"Bullshit.  Neurosis has been post-hardcore for over ten years.  And to that, for how long can something be post-anything.  What's the time frame there?  Are we post Neanderthal still?"

"What the hell is your deal man?  Are you still pissed about the last Eskimo Pie or what?"

"No man, I'm not pissed at you I'm just fed up with these stupid ass genre definitions."

"Wow.  Let that go dude."

"From now on post-hardcore is dead to me.  I'm renaming the genre: expressive metal.  That's what it is right?  It's metal that has progressed past clichéd anger and expresses a spectrum of emotion with instrumentation set as more of a priority than vocalization."

"Like prog-metal?"
