Le Butcherettes is a duo of girls from Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico, whose genre could be considered Post-Punk without being the defining the concept, as their letters and inspiration is rooted in the largely feminist literature. So Le butcherettes defines their music as a "Butcher-Rock."

The Meaning of the Band Name:

Le Butcherettes means what it sounds like, Butcher Women. The Ettes refers to the feminine term. This represents the powerful women that cut meat which symbolizes eating and breaking through the oppression that leads us to be treated like a piece of meat. Le Butcherettes is "Btcher-Rock".

Concept:

The concept in its self, is feminist, we refer to feminism as a movement of change and as the fight for the equality of sexes, not the erroneous concept of hate for all men. Our mission is to form a conscience about the problems and daily politics, through music, ironic lyrics and performance, with the fundamental bases of liberty and respect.

3.) Symbology:

It is symbolical; it all represents the feminine stereotypes that have socially oppressed high, middle and low class women.

For Example: High heels, pearls and lipstick. They represent the common 1950s high class womens vestment. This common tradition would lead them to consume and depend upon esthetic products.

The bloody apron would represent the house wife who would dedicate her time to the kitchen and would serve the family and it also represents Butcher women exercising their work which is a common job for man.

The rotten raw meat on stage represents mistreated woman. That girl is a piece of grade A meat

The mannequins with covered eyes represent the ignorance caused by oppression, and the mannequin as it is, represents an empty molded person, with a beautiful exterior but without the deepness.

The songs are protests and recollections of thoughts and stories of women in desperation wanting to get ahead. The lyrics are sarcastic and ironic. Every song is a different story. Example: A story being told by a High school victim being called a whore (Last Tear) to a Russian Soviet Survivor feeling betrayed by Russian literature. (Mr. Tolstoi) We even make references about call girls trying to make a living by trying to keep control of everything in their business; dominatrix. (Honey-Honey)

**some of the songs.**

Our songs are ironic and controversial because they represent the problems that we fight everyday, but we add a humoristic and indirect way of expression to leave room for imagination and thinking.

This is why we are controversial because people sometimes misinterpret the songs.
When we perform and make thriller gore shows we want to send a message, and maybe people will understand or just laugh, but the point is to cause a reaction, or maybe make ourselves react.

We as human beings want to over-come these typical symbols so we can make ourselves as women generally and worldwide stronger. We want women who work as house wives or who are exploited to be mentioned and to be involved in Rock N Roll (any kind of music) and liberated and encourage people to think twice about the oppressive system.

We are well aware that our little band will not help women worldwide with their actual state (economic, etc). We know that not everyone has the right to leave their exploited status as easy without the help of organizations (non-governmental, governmental organizations). We play in their honor.

We play with our instruments because we have the right to do it and along with it we have that passion. We have the right to use our supposedly-sensuality (Amen, George Sand) in real or fictitious life; even with our rights in reach, people still have the nerve to call us prostitutes and whores. Some peoples virtues have not changed. We are in the year 2008. Ring-Ding.

We sometimes use the image of Marilyn Monroe because she represents about 30 percent of what we are trying to wear, she was an icon of beauty, (beauty is a relative term, everyone has their opinion) but she was used by the industry to sell, kind of like decoration instead as a person. In a way she also used the industry, which makes her a controversial figure.

We include visual clips of oppressed women and men, corrupt politicians, etc so we can be more direct visually or indirect; however people want to see it.

4.) Influences:

Music: Rock N' Roll.

Literature: Anne Sexton, Simone de Beauvoir, Sylvia Plath, Mary Wollstonecraft, Bell hooks, Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx, Christina Sommers, Kate Millet, Lydia Cacho Ribeiro, Elizabeth Martínez, Zana y Nadia Muhsen, etc.

5.) Genre:

We call our rock Butcher Rock. It is a rare combination of distinct roots and musical influences, but with a touch of blood and raw/rotten meat.

We will try always use meat in our shows, but keep in mind that sometimes it's not possible. To make everything clear we believe in animal respect and dont waste good food, which is why we buy rotten meat, rotten pig heads.

-Thank You and by the way We Kiss our Own Sins...
