Reunions usually tend to go one of two ways. The bands either turn out a rehash of the old stuff but without any of the bits that made them great in the first place, or they try something so different they might as well have gone by another name. Usually its because theyre not half as bothered about the music as they are about the money. You cant tell me the Spice Girls reformed out of a love of music. Or Shed 7 for that matter, whove been given silly money for their reunion tour. I doubt Rik Witter was exactly getting rich with his latest album with The Dukes.

I doubt Metal Urbain ever made any money, so it was always going to be about the music. On Jirai Chier dans ton Vomi, Metal Urbain hit it perfectly. Yes, theyve evolved: the productions denser and its got a little bit more of a hard-edged industrial feel, which probably has a lot to do with Jello Biafras presence. Yes, heres a hint of Lard there, but with a very French flavour. The drum machines got a bigger range of sounds and is a bit more sophisticated. But not much, and this is why is a good album. Its still pure punk, all loud, fuzzy guitars with fuckloads of top; the vocals are shouted and delivered with the same aggression that was present on all of the classic tracks on the earlier releases, Les Hommes Morts Sont Dangereux and LAge DOr. And its mastered LOUD. Strange to think that this is in actuality their first full-length album, but I digress.

For those of you reading this who are familiar with the earlier work but are yet to hear it, I strongly recommend that you dont delay. Those whove got this far but havent a clue who they are, I still recommend that you dont delay, but also recommend getting your hands on the original material Anarchy In Paris! contains pretty much everything and really does make for essential listening.
