Even after listening to Exogamy a couple of times I don't really know what to think of Wedlock, the foursome from North Carolina. It's a strange mix and while the better part of me didn't want to like this electro-pop, the other side of me was found tapping my foot to their beats and somewhat enjoying what I was listening too. Paul Algood's vocals is the reason that I found myself drawn back to Wedlock. There is nothing really all that creative in the music but Paul's voice is so compelling that I could listen to him reading books. I don't know what it is but he really does have one of those amazing voices. I could draw comparisons to Living Colour's Corey Glover.

Now for the music, there are times like on "Discopharma" where I was left scratching my head, feeling that we had changed decades. Although some of the songs are decent (I really enjoyed the gentle "Black Sundress") there are many moments that I just wish that Wedlock would use some real instruments. The drum tracks tire so easily. "Allegiance..WTF?!" had nothing going for it. There are times when I thought Wedlock was going to impress me, like when the closing track "Just Because" starts. I imagined a decent techno feel to it but again it sounded dated. Could Wedlock just need some updated software programs?

With all that being said, I don't think I would turn back to Wedlock often. The band does have some charm but they need to modernize their sound before mass acceptance will happen.
